👥 How many players do we need to play?
Games are played with four players on court. Each team must have at least one male and one female player. The other two can be any gender. Subs are allowed at any point if they have signed the waiver, have an Urban Rec account, and the host is notified.

⏰ How long is the game?
Games last around 40 minutes and are played as three sets. All sets are played regardless of the score.

🎯 How do we score points?
Each set is played to 21 points. A point is scored when the ball hits the ground or cannot be returned. Each set win earns one point toward the match score.

✂️ How does the game start?
Captains play scissors paper rock to decide who serves or picks a side. Teams switch sides after each set.

🏐 How does serving work?
The server must have one foot on the back line. Serves can be over-arm or under-arm and must be clean hits. The serve cannot hit the back wall, but it can hit one side wall and may touch the net as it crosses. Players get one attempt to serve.

🧱 What are the wall rules?
On your own side, the ceiling and back wall are in play as long as a teammate touches the ball. On the opponent’s side, the ball is out if it hits the ceiling, back wall, or two walls before being touched.

🛑 What is not allowed during a serve?
You cannot spike, block, or attack a serve. You also cannot let the serve hit the back wall or hit it below the waist.

🎮 How many hits do we get and can we play off the net?
Each team has three hits per rally. A player cannot hit twice in a row unless it's a block. If the ball hits the net, it can still be recovered within three hits.

🚫 What are common violations?
No kicking, double hits, holding or carrying the ball, touching the net, blocking or spiking a serve, or letting the ball hit the floor. The ball cannot hit two walls on the opponent’s side without a teammate touching it.

🔁 What happens if the ball rebounds or spins back over?
If the ball spins back to your side after crossing the net on the first or second hit, you can still play it. If it does so on the third hit, the point is lost.
